HARRISONBURG — James Madison will be down a linebacker and a key special-teams player when it starts spring football in March.
Redshirt sophomore linebacker KeShaun Moore was dismissed from the program for an undisclosed violation of team rules, according to JMU sports information director Chris Brooks.
Moore, a Nansemond-Suffolk Academy product, appeared in 10 games and started six times for the Dukes this past season. He recorded 28 total tackles to go along with three tackles for loss and a sack as a redshirt freshman. And in his first-career start, he tallied a career-best eight tackles during JMU’s season-opening loss at N.C. State where he was asked to fill in for starter Landan Word, who missed the first half of the year with an injury.
A former two-star prospect by Rivals.com, Moore, also found roles on various special team units for JMU.
The team does return multi-year starters Word and Dimitri Holloway at linebacker for their senior seasons as well as sophomore Mateo Jackson, who like Moore, saw action in a reserve role in 2018.
