Dukes Get 14th Recruit For 2013 Class

The James Madison football team got a recruit Sunday.

A JMU source said Dunbar High School (Md.) linebacker Kyre Hawkins - 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, according to Rivals - has verbally committed to play for the Dukes.

Hawkins is Madison's 14th recruit for the class of 2013 and the second verbal the school got this week. Charlottesville wide receiver Rashard Davis committed Thursday.

Hawkins was not heavily recruited, but the source said he may have been overlooked because he transferred between high schools. The source also said Hawkins had a very good senior year.

According to Rivals, Hawkins drew interest from Bryant. Bryant plays in the Northeast Conference, a low-level Division I-AA league.
