DukesofJMU.com The James Madison football team is down another assistant.
A source said Thursday night that tight ends coach Latrell Scott has accepted the head coaching job at Virginia State, a Division II school outside of Petersburg.
The 37-year-old Scott spent one season at JMU after resigning as the head coach at Richmond, where he coached the Spiders to a 6-5 record in 2010. Scott resigned in August 2011 after being charged with driving while intoxicated, his second offense in five-to-10 years. He was convicted that November.
Scott's departure leaves coach Mickey Matthews in the market for yet another assistant. The Dukes need an offensive coordinator, a quarterbacks coach and an offensive line coach after Jeff Durden (offensive coordinator and QBs coach) and Chris Malone (O-line coach) were fired in December.
